7 Ways To Have a Happier, Healthier Morning | self-improvement, productivity, self-development, morning routine, self-care, self-love

1. Resist the urge to check your notifications

Those sneaky phone notifications always seem so urgent, but do your best to not start your day off by checking emails, scrolling through social media, and answering text messages. By checking your device first thing in the morning, you’ve immediately put yourself on the back burner by prioritizing other people. Give yourself some space to experience a peaceful awakening.

This is your time — Everything and everyone else can wait.
 

2. Make your bed

This is a very quick, easy task to set your day off in a productive manner. Plus, there’s nothing better than snuggling into a neat bed after a long day.

 

3. Drink water

After a night of rest, your body will be super dehydrated. Drinking water first thing in the morning increases the flow of oxygen in your body and it helps flush out those pesky toxins.

If drinking water feels like a chore to you, add orange slices, lemon slices, or cucumber slices to make it more palatable. And if you’re already used to consuming water, take it up a notch by adding in a tablespoon of organic raw apple cider vinegar.

 

4. Use essential oils to wake up and invigorate your mind

There are a few different ways to use essential oils in the morning. One of my personal favourites is with an aromatherapy diffuser. I love adding in lemon oil into the diffuser’s water tank first thing in the morning — It immediately energizes me and places me into the productivity mindset for the remainder of the day.

Another way I like to use essential oils in the morning is by rubbing a vanilla/jojoba blend onto my temples and just focusing on deep breathing for a couple of minutes. #SELFCARETOTHEMAX

However, don’t be afraid to get creative, guys and gals. If you’re a morning shower-er, add a few drops of peppermint oil to a washcloth, place it on the bathtub floor, and let the steam work its aromatic magic.

 

5. Moisturize your skin

If I could write a deep country love song for shea butter, I would. It’s immaculate.

But use your holy grail moisturizer in the morning. Coconut oil, cocoa butter, Shiseido — whatever it is, your skin will be glowingly thankful all day.
 

6. Warm your soul up with your favourite tea

Not only do various teas carry an abundance of different health benefits, tea in itself is a magnificent way to relax and set the tone for your day.

Organic green tea with lemon is a staple in my household, however, I love switching it up with either some lavender tea or reishi tea with almond milk and cinnamon.
 

7. Unclutter your mind

Sit down with your warm drink, a pen, and a journal. Write 2-3 pages worth of anything that’s on your mind. Anything and everything. Rid of your censor.

This exercise brings us clarity to our often chaotic lives and grounds us in the truth of our being.

I do this every morning, and even if my writing is all over the place, my mind is releasing anything that could have distracted, burdened, or disorganized me throughout the rest of my day.
