During this past year, I’ve really fallen in love with self-care. After experiencing numerous amounts of aches and pains in my body such as tense muscles (to the point where I could hardly move!) and scalp psoriasis flare-ups, I knew I needed to find a way to recharge and replenish my soul.
The art of relaxation is not easy, however. It takes practise. Thus, it’s important to be prepared.
Cue the self-care kit!
Why is it important to have one?
Usually during times of overwhelm, sadness, and stress, the last thing we think about is putting in the effort to take care of ourselves.
There’s a huge pile of work to do, a home that needs organizing, a family to take care of, and well, you’re going to be exhausted. Meditation and cooking yourself a healthy meal are the last things on your mind because they feel like you’re just adding on another chore to your (already massive) to-do list.
This is something we have all been guilty of, but in actuality, not doing anything to take care of ourselves tend to do a lot more damage to our mental and emotional states in the long run.
So, rather than surrendering to plopping on the couch at the end of each day, take at least one hour every week to reconnect with yourself and be intentional with how you nourish your mind, body, and spirit.
You owe it to yourself!

Step Three: Place It Somewhere That’s Easily Accessible To You
It’s best to place your self-care kit somewhere where it won’t be forgotten. You can place it in your home near where you hang out most of the time like the bedroom, kitchen, or living room. Or if you’re a busy bee and you’re not at home much, you can always keep it in your car or take it with you in a backpack! This way it’ll always be within arm’s reach when you need it.
