We’ve all been there before — Using makeup removers that don’t actually remove makeup all the way through. It’s frustrating to have to scrub your face a little too hard and then breaking out the next day because not everything had come off. Luckily, I’ve finally found a routine that works amazingly at getting every last bit of makeup off of the skin at night. It only takes 4 products and 5 minutes of your time. Here’s how I remove my makeup to get squeaky clean skin!

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm: Prior to using this, I would actually use coconut oil to remove all of my makeup. It worked really well at melting all of the products off of my face, but the one thing I hated about it was the heavy film that it left sitting on my skin. This cleansing balm takes off my makeup exactly the way coconut oil did, except there’s no oily mess around the jar and there’s no residue left behind on my skin from it. I really don’t know how Clinique managed to formulate this, but I can’t live without this — it’s seriously great. I also have hooded eyelids so I wear waterproof mascara quite often and this just melts every last trace of it off of my face with ease. All I do is take a very small amount of it onto my fingers and watch the product and my makeup liquify as I begin massaging it into my skin.
Aveeno Makeup Wipes: After breaking down all of my makeup with the cleansing balm, I take one of these makeup wipes and begin gently removing all of the products off of my face; starting with the eyes first. I like these because they don’t irritate my sensitive skin, which tends to be the case with a lot of other makeup wipes. They’re also very saturated in liquid so I’ve never had the issue of them drying out. Love!
Paula’s Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover: There’s always a bit of mascara or eyeliner left over in between the eyelashes, so I like to go over that area with this makeup remover and a q-tip. As I mentioned I have quite sensitive skin and most liquid makeup removers tend to burn my eye area, so having this to clean around my lashes without any irritation has been a godsend.
Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser With Cottonseed: “Makeup remover” and “cleanser” are not terms that should be used interchangeably. Both play an important role in thoroughly cleansing your skin. Think about it: If you were to just use a makeup remover, you wouldn’t actually be removing any pore-clogging impurities (such as dirt and sweat) that have been lying in your skin all day. And if you were to just use a cleanser, you’d just be spreading makeup that has collected bacteria throughout your day across your face. This is why it’s important to have a multi-step system, so you can ensure that your face is properly cleansed and has the space to properly breathe overnight. This cleanser in particular though has been wonderful. It leaves my skin squeaky clean and feeling baby soft. All I do is dampen my fingertips and squeeze out a small dollop of this cleanser, work it into my skin, rinse, and voila!
