I’ve been drawing on cat eyes ever since I was a teen. To this day, it’s still my favourite makeup look. It completely transforms the eyes and can complement both day and nighttime makeup. Regardless of whether you love soft flicks or razor-sharp feline eyes, the product you use is important. Your eyeliner should apply with ease, be saturated with colour, and not have any transfer issues. Here are a few of my favourites that fit that criteria.
Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner. Once upon a time, prior to falling head over heels for this eyeliner, I would only use liquids. This eyeliner was actually the one that converted me over to using gel formulas on a day-to-day basis. It’s pigmented, creamy, easy to apply, and lasts all day long (which is a must for my hooded lids). I typically like to use it with either the Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush from Bobbi Brown for thicker lines (because I can use both the flat and sides of the brush), or Mac’s 209 Brush for extreme precision.
Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eyeliner. Just because I prefer a gel eyeliner nowadays, doesn’t mean that I’ve completely omitted liquid formulas. I still really love liquid liners; especially when I’m going for a very bold, precise, and defined look. This eyeliner’s fantastic because it provides intense colour and lasts all day long, without any movement or flaking. I also really love how stiff the brush is because it helps create perfect lines. Oh, and did I mention that it costs under $10? Yep!
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. I can’t say more than enough great things about this eye pencil. The colour payoff of these are extremely opaque and with the wide variety of shades available in this line, there’s something for everybody. These glide on with ease, set quickly, and don’t transfer; so if you’re someone who has hooded or oily eyelids and is in the market for an eye pencil that doesn’t budge, you’ll especially love these. They also create great sharp-tailed wings, which isn’t an easy task for an eyeliner pencil.
Nyx Slide On Eye Pencil. These are my favourite eye pencils to use as a base for eyeshadows because they don’t set right away, which allows me to have some time to smudge the product in with ease. They’re also ultra creamy, so whether you use them as a base or just as an eyeliner, they’ll glide onto the eyelid and waterline without any tug or discomfort. This line has a good selection of shades to choose from and the colour payoff is fantastic.
